Requesting or Updating IP Addresses

LAN administrators may request new IP address assignments by sending e-mail to "ncc@siu.edu"and including the following information:

• total number of addresses request
• type of network
• building and room number associated with each address
• person's name or service/function that is associated with each address

This information will be entered into a service request database for the DNS administrator. New addresses are generally issued in one to two working days.

There are instances when computers and/or people will be moved between rooms. LAN administrators are responsible for notifying the DNS administrator when these changes occur.
